FENCING
Fencing is one of the original sports of the modern Olympics. It is also an NCAA sport with
scholarships available for top universities. It is a sport that requires speed, agility, stamina, and
mental discipline, and because there is no body contact, fencing is a very safe sport.
AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF FENCING
Since 2006, we have been advancing our students by utilizing one on one and group training
from beginners to competitive fencers, all the way to the national level. We believe it is our
mission to optimize all students' capabilities no matter their age, gender or physical ability.
OUR COACHES
AIF is proud to have Coach Mac Shaker as the head coach. He is a '92 Olympian and has
won national and world titles. AIF is also proud to have Coach Monica Aksamit.
She is a '16 Olympic Bronze Medalist and 2 time NCAA Champion. Furthermore, AlFis
privileged to have Coach Hassan El Sherbiny who is a '96 Olympic qualifier and retired
police captain. We are also privileged to have Coach JoAnn Vaiani who has 25 years
of fencing experience and 15 years of coaching experience.
THE AIF FACILITY
AIF is a 4,600 Sq Ft facility that is fully equipped with 12 electric strips and
state of the art flooring that minimizes stress on the joints for greater
performance. AIF is conveniently located one mile south of the Monmouth Mall;
Exit 105 on the GSP, and the intersection of Rt 36, Rt 35 and Rt 18.
